MailSizr V2.5 - Description of sample scripts |
MailSizr comes with 4 sample scripts. These scripts are meant to show you some of the fundamental capabilities of MailSizr.
Note that the linked files contain comments which explain the steps taken within the context of the script.
MS-EVAL.SCR - This script is used to generate a user load using POP and SMTP commands.
SIMPLTST.SCR - This test also shows the SMTP and POP commands but also illustrates the use of the RANDOM construct to send messages to random users from a mailing list.
IMAPTEST.SCR - This script shows the use of IMAP commands. IMPA commands always use subscripting and this example shows a subscript file as well . Note that the IMPA protocol and the applications (mail clients) that use IMAP have the capability to converse with the server using a wide range of IMAP commands. To understand these constructs and the working of your specific mail program, you would need to use a recorder product like Technovations NetCorder or a Network sniffer. The advantage of using NetCorder is that it can autogenerate script files for you as you use your mail programs.
SIZETST.SCR - This script shows the use of the SIZE command to send messages of a certain size. This is the best way of generating very large messages.
Note that you can simulate almost anything using MailSizr that any mail program does, including sending attachments, multi-part mime messages, etc. But these are simulations that can be performed using NetCorder which will actively transcribe the activity of email programs and generate a script file which can be manipulated using some of the directives shown in the above examples.
You are welcome to modify the above scripts and use them for your test. Let us know if you would like to add refinements to these scripts or add new scripts to this set. Your comments on these scripts are also welcome. Please send your feedback to info@technovations.com
